Selenite is a soft, translucent variety of gypsum, traditionally used to cleanse a space and to recharge other crystals. This 4" (10cm) Selenite Charging Plate is a flat, circular disc of natural white selenite, sized to hold a handful of tumbled stones, jewelry, or one larger crystal while they rest and recharge. Its surface shows the stone's fine fibrous striations and soft glow, and as a natural material, tone and translucency vary slightly plate to plate.

Meaning & history

In crystal tradition, selenite is associated with cleansing, clarity, and a calm, high-vibration energy — many people keep a charging plate as the centerpiece of their crystal collection, resting stones and jewelry on it overnight so the selenite can refresh them, since it is traditionally the stone used to cleanse others without ever needing cleansing itself. It is often linked to the Crown chakra.

How to use it

Set your tumbled stones, jewelry, or a favorite crystal on the plate overnight — or through the day — to let it recharge. Keep the plate on a nightstand, altar, or shelf as a dedicated charging station. Explore more selenite, browse the full crystals & stones collection, or pair it with our Selenite Charging Bar for a larger charging setup.

Care & cleansing

Selenite is very soft (about 2 on the Mohs scale) and water-soluble, so keep the plate completely dry — never rinse it, as water will dissolve, cloud, or pit the surface. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth and keep it out of steamy bathrooms. Cleanse it — and let it cleanse your other crystals — with moonlight or smoke, never water.

Frequently asked questions

What is a selenite charging plate used for?
It's a dedicated resting spot for other crystals and jewelry — set them on the plate and the selenite is traditionally said to cleanse and recharge them. It is a decorative, symbolic tool, not a health product or medical device.

Can selenite go in water?
No — it dissolves. Never rinse the plate or set wet jewelry on it; keep it completely dry and wipe away dust with a soft cloth.

Is it safe to leave the plate out every day?
Yes — it's designed for daily use as a charging station. Just keep it on a dry surface, away from bathrooms or anywhere damp.

How do I cleanse the plate itself?
Selenite is traditionally considered self-cleansing, so an occasional reset in moonlight or a pass through incense smoke is usually enough — never water.

How can I tell if the plate is real selenite?
Genuine selenite is soft enough to mark lightly with a fingernail, shows fine fibrous striations across the surface, and feels light and slightly waxy.

What can I put on a selenite charging plate?
Tumbled stones, rings, earrings, or larger pieces all work — many pair it with our Selenite Charging Bar for a full charging station.
